Understanding Nits and Lux
A nit (candela per square meter) is the standard unit of measurement for screen brightness. The rule of thumb for B2B signage deployment is:
- Indoor Office / Meeting Rooms: 350 to 500 nits. This provides comfortable reading under standard ambient office lighting (around 500 lux).
- Window-Facing / Semi-Outdoor Displays: 1,500 to 2,000 nits. Required to overcome reflection from bright daylight.
- Outdoor / Direct Sunlight: 2,500+ nits. Must feature high-contrast filters to maintain readability during peak summer sunlight.
